This specification was formulated to establish procedures for testing and evaluating the pressure-containing performance of API end connections when exposed to fire. Valves, wellhead seals, or other related equipment, are not included in the scope of this document. The procedures are presented in two parts: Part I represents conditions in an onshore or open offshore location and Part II represents conditions in an offshore platform well bay. Background information on fire-resistance of API end connections is contained in API Bulletin 6F1. Further background on fire-resistance improvements of API flanges is contained in API Bulletin 6F2. This specification covers API Spec 6A end connections, which include: a. API Flanged End and Outlet Connections (6B, 6BX, and Segmented); b. API Threaded End and Outlet Connections; and, c. Other End Connections (OECs).
